2004 James T. Martin AwardJames Martin was a beloved colleague who worked successfully in every aspect of the Army Entertainment program, most notably as the Chief of the Costume and Technical Support Center in Aschaffenburg, which lives on as today's THEATRIX.
An annual award, established in his memory, honors individual excellence for a body of work in Army Entertainment. It bears repeating that in his office, he used to have hanging the quote from Sir Lawrence Olivier that "professionalism is always giving your best work, even when no one would know the difference."
And we are about to honor another friend with this award created in Jim’s name. Among his many contributions, our 2004 recipient has previously worked as an Army Entertainment program manager & community theatre director in two different communities, but indeed there is no Army program in the command that has not been touched by his artistic insights, personal commitment, and professional expertise. Through his many site visits, he has tirelessly championed excellence in command-wide programming. We see the results of not only his talent, but his hands-on, old-fashioned hard work in every one of our facilities. He is a resource that we prize and a friend in need that is a friend indeed to Army Entertainment.
The 2004 James T. Martin Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in the Army Entertainment Program is presented with great pleasure to Vic Phillipson. |
