Greg and Kate move to Manhattan after twenty-two years of child-raising in the suburbs. Greg's career is winding down, while Kate's is beginning to offer more opportunities. The last thing Kate wants is a new dog, but that's exactly what Greg finds on a soul-searching walk in the park: Sylvia, a street-smart canine (played by an actress) who quickly becomes a major bone of contention between Greg and Kate. Even with advice from friends and a therapist whose gender is not readily apparent, the marriage is put into serious jeopardy until, after a series of hilarious and touching complications, Greg and Kate learn to compromise, and Sylvia becomes a valued part of their lives. Written by A.R. Gurney, author of "The Dining Room" and "Love Letters." Directed by Ron Paoletti.

Performances: Sept. 21, 22, 27, 28 & 29, 2001 at 7:30 p.m

"Dramatic literature is stuffed with memorable love scenes, but none is as immediately delicious and dizzy as the one that begins with the redeeming affair in A. R. Gurney's new comedy, Sylvia..." -- New York Times

"Gurney's mad comedy is the most endearing good time to trot down the pike in many a moon. Howlingly funny ..." -- Back Stage
