A few notes from our audience:

"Hello, Roadside Theatre Production Company for "Fuddy Meers." I am New Hampshire Army National Guardsmen . . who had the recent good fortune to see two bravura performances of "Fuddy Meers." It was wonderful! What a treat for the senses...the action/reaction split-second-comic-timing was superb. . . I just sat there, kept applauding and didn't want to leave the world you created for me. . "

"U Guys are la abfulous !!. . peek up la da gate werk !! . . Binky for President !!"

"Fuddy Meers was a funny show and the actors were good in their parts. I had tears in my eyes for laughing. I don't have to say keep up the good work because you have proven your theater holds high standards and sticks to them."

If you saw the show, let us hear from you!

Full of as many twists and surprises as a carnival fun house, FUDDY MEERS is a hilarious romp of comedy and hidden identities and slapstick and bizarre characters where nothing is what it seems to be.

"So... I have amnesia ... that's very inconvenient..." And so Claire starts another day like all the others - as a blank slate due to a rare form of amnesia. Then a strange man claiming to be her husband brings her a cup of coffee and patiently starts to explain her plight when a young boy slips in to steal money from her purse and a limping lisping man appears from nowhere and whisks her away to see her mother who's had a stroke and can't form sentences properly but she's happy to see Claire until a weird man with a puppet appears seeking asylum but then the husband we saw earlier is stopped for speeding but kidnaps the officer and they all end up at Grandma's house. And then things start to get crazy.

The plot explodes wildly out of control and Act I ends in total bedlam, yet between the belly laughs there are touching moments of pignancy and hope as we follow Claire's journey to decipher her fractured life. (contains adult language)

"HOWLINGLY FUNNY" --Washington Times

Performances: September 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 & 28 at 7:30; and September 22 at 3 p.m.

Audition Information

This show is very fast-paced, with a lot of physical movement. The actors will be involved with set changes, moving props around the stage, etc. This show is hilarious, yet there are poignant and tender moments, too. It will be a lot of fun for everyone involved to produce this show!

A complete rehearsal schedule will be posted after casting is complete. In general, rehearsals are held Monday thru Thursday every week, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. There will be occasional weekend rehearsals as well. Depending on your role, you may not be required to come to all rehearsals. If cast, part of your responsibilities as an actor is to help produce the show. "Work Calls" are scheduled for some Saturday afternoons when we ask the cast and crew to come in and help with sets, lights and costumes. You don't need a lot of technical skills for this, just a willingness to pitch in.

Auditions are both Monday and Tuesday night. You do not have to attend both evenings, although you may if you wish. If a large number of people audition, there may be Call-Backs on Wednesday or Thursday night to help make the final choices; we will discuss this option with everyone Monday and Tuesday nights.

If you are interested in helping only with the technical production (backstage, costumes, lights, construction, etc), please contact us as soon as possible.

Like any audition, you must be familiar with the material before coming to auditions. Perusal scripts can be signed out from the theater; Box Office hours are Tues - Fri, 1 pm - 6 pm, or call 373-5020 (06221-175020) for an appointment to pick up a script.

We're also looking for help backstage: stage managers, props, costumes, lights, sound, etc. Please send an email or call the theater if you'd like to join the production team!
