Show Information:
Roadside Theater presents a 'Broadway In Concert' version of this chilling, suspenseful and heart-pounding masterpiece of murderous barber-ism and culinary crime. Sweeney Todd is an infamous tale of obsession, revenge, murder and meat pies in the dark streets of 1846 London.
Benjamin Barker, a skillful barber returning from 15 years wrongful imprisonment in Australia, seeks revenge upon the two men who took away his most valuable possession - his family. Rechristening himself Sweeney Todd, Barker, along with the aid of the economically depraved Mrs. Lovett, sets out on a path of retaliation full of close shaves and secret ingredients which will eventually lead to his doom.
Sophisticated, macabre, visceral and uncompromising, Sweeney Todd nevertheless has a great sense of fun, mixing intense drama with howlingly funny moments of dark humor: audiences find themselves laughing hysterically one moment and gasping in surprise the next.
"A staggering theater spectacle and more fun than a graveyard on the night of the annual skeleton's ball... So joy to the world, dear children! Sweeney Todd is here to enrich your nightmares." - Daily News
